Different types of ADHD?

ADHD can be divided into three different subtypes, according to the degree of dominancy.

ADHD type 1: emphasis on concentration disorders.
You are suffering from this subtype, if the concentration problems last over six months and negatively influence your behaviour.
The characteristics are: having difficulties in noticing details, making sloppy mistakes due to inattention, having trouble focusing on your tasks, not being able to organise assignments, acting chaotically, having problems carrying out instructions, finishing schoolwork halfway, starting something without finishing it…
These ADHDers are often very forgetful, they often lose items and forget important things they need at school or work. Apart from that, they always have some sort of excuse ready for not having to do their homework of they come up with excuses to avoid brain-racking assignments. It is very hard for them to focus on the same thing for a long time.

ADHD type 2: emphasis on hyperactivity and impulsivity.
You are suffering from this subtype, if the syptoms of hyperactivity and impulsivity already last over six months, in such a way that it negatively influences your behaviour.
The characteristics are: not being able to sit still or keep your feet still, fidgeting, talking much and loudly, being constantly busy, having trouble playing calmly, being aggressive, moving in an uncontrolled way, always running where others are walking, trying to reach and climb all the time, disturbing others while playing, not being able to listen to other people and interrupting them to speak your mind, always wanting to stand in front and not wanting to wait your turn.

ADHD type 3: the combination type.
You are suffering from subtype 3, when the syptoms mentioned above, already last over six months and negatively influence your behaviour.

Please note that everyone acts similarly now and then, which does not necessarily mean you are suffering from ADHD. This sort of behaviour needs to found before you are seven years old and has to manifest itself over six months in different situations, such as at home, at work or at school. Therefore, a child who is only hyperactive at home but not at school, is not suffering from ADHD. Moreover, if your behaviour is not harmful to your environment, it is not diagnosed as ADHD either.
