About 85% of all couples get pregnant easily. During the period in your life when you do not wish to have children or do not want to get pregnant, you know that sex without contraceptives may lead to an unwanted pregnancy. However, women do not get pregnant that easily, especially not when you are 35 or older. Even when you are younger, your monthly chances of getting pregnant only amount to 20%. Below are a few tips to make conception easier.
Before you start trying to get pregnant:
Ban all alcohol, caffeine and cigarettes. Caffeine increases the chance of endometriosis, a well-known cause of infertility. Smoking may speed up the loss of egg cells and decrease the sperm quality. Merely five alcoholic drinks or more a day negatively influence your attempts at getting pregnant. Stop excessive body workouts. Women who perform very intensive physical trainings, sometimes have the problem that they stop ovulating. Regular body exercise, on the other hand, is highly recommended. Make sure you are at an ideal weight. To increase your chances of getting pregnant, it is important to aspire to a target weight, the BMI of which is between 24 and 30. Decrease stress Make sure that stress factors in your environment are avoided or reduced.
What to do first
Stop taking the pill If you want to get pregnant, it is logical that all contraception is to be ceased. It is advisable to stop taking the pill for one month, before you actually have sexual intercourse to get pregnant.
Determine when the ovulation takes place. Getting pregnant mainly depends on determining the right moment of the ovulation. There are two methods to that purpose, but unfortunately neither of them is conclusive:
• The temperature method for which you take your body temperature every morning. If that temperature drops by half a centigrade, you are having your ovulation. • Vaginal secretion is thinner and more abundant when it is the right time to get pregnant.
Have sex at regular intervals Having sex every other day, a few days before until a few days after the ovulation increases your chances of getting pregnant. Nonetheless, having too much sexual intercourse may deteriorate the sperm quality.
