Studies have been published, which analyse the profiles of ADHDers. They have revealed several elements.
The number of Americans diagnosed with ADHD far exceeds the numbers of European and non-European countries. America is using 80% of all stimulating drugs worldwide. In the States, Ritalin is being used ten times as much as in Europe and Asia.
At first sight, it are mostly children and adults from well-to-do families who are suffering from ADHD. The monthly expenses for medication only may add up to € 50 or £ 35. Tests to set a correct diagnosis cost quite a lot of money as well. This is probably the reason why most people diagnosed with ADHD stem from the wealthier class.
White people are more likely to have ADHD. Africans and Asians are less often diagnosed with the disorder.
Men are suffering from ADHD more often than women, and this applies to all age categories. The proportion men / women, is three to one. With ADHD children under sixteen years of age, 80% belong to the male sex.
ADHD is less current with older people than with youngsters. It propably used to be present before as well, but not by that name.
More factors which were cleary present with ADHD patients are a stressful environment and a low education level.
